My current workaround is to insert the clip into the timeline three times once as a video clip alone, and then once for each audio track. But even when detached, each audio track won't slip independently of each other. While attached, audio tracks will not slip independently of the video clip. In fact, with previous OSes, recording with the external microphone worked fine. So I think this is a bug that was introduced with iPad Os 15.1 and has not yet been fixed with iPad Os 15.2.

The problem only occurs when I record incoming audio on the iPad Pro via the USB-C port. The recording of my voice works fine, on the iPhone, so it seems that the Rode microphone is also working fine. I then tried connecting the Rode external microphone to my iPhone, using another Apple adapter connected to the lightning socket on the iphone. If the adapter was faulty, I think the headphone audio would have problems. If I connect headphones to the usb-c adapter the audio is heard just fine. P.S: I've been testing to see if it's a problem with the microphone, or the adaptor.

I hope that an iPad Os update will solve this problem soon. I recently upgraded my iPad to iPad Os 15.2. With the OS prior to 15.1 the problem did not occur. In order to hear it at a normal level I have to amplify the audio by 400% or 500%. Now I find that the level of the audio recorded through the usb-c port has dropped enormously. With this same microphone, the same iPad, and with the same adapter, I have recorded many videos without problems. I am using an original Apple usb-c to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter to connect the microphone. On iPad Pro 12.9 (2021) the audio recorded by the external microphone sounds muffled I have connected a Rode smartlav+ microphone to the usb-c port of my iPad Pro 12.9 (2021).
The same happens when I use the splitter along with an adapter on my iPhone Xs Max.Īm I missing something? Thank you in advance for your help. Using both the mic and headphones together seem to be cancelling each other out. I can unplug the mic and plug in only the headphones and can hear what was recorded without issue. I can plug in ONLY the mic in to the splitter, the other end empty, and the audio will record without issue.
However, if I use only one side of the splitter, it works fine.
When I plug both the headphones and the mic into the splitter and record, I hear nothing and there is no recording from the external mic (but there is recording from the internal mic, oddly enough). My lav and shotgun external mic are 4 pole. What I need from the splitter is to record audio and monitor that audio simultaneously in either Garage Band, iMovie, or just the Camera app. I have a 2017 10.5" iPad Pro and I am trying to use an audio mic splitter (4 pole TRRS male end, 2 TRRS female ends, each labeled with both a headphone and mic).
